THE TABLE TENNIS COACH – QUALIFICATIONS?

I am a Full Time Table Tennis Coach, qualified to “Table Tennis England” UKCC level 1 (UK Coaching Certificate).

I can coach players of all standards from complete table tennis beginners to advanced players.

TABLE TENNIS COACHING SESSIONS

For 1 to 1 or 1 to 2 coaching I have access to a dedicated table tennis facility in Aireborough, Leeds that is available most days. (Bats and balls can be provided if you do not have your own yet).

TABLE TENNIS PASSION!

Table Tennis is my passion! I have played competitive table tennis from 9 years of age.

I have represented Leeds and Yorkshire in table tennis tournaments at every age level receiving training from some of the regions best table tennis coaches.

I play competitive table tennis at an advanced level, playing with teams in the top divisions in Leeds & Bradford Table Tennis Leagues.

I also play for the Leeds Veteran’s Table Tennis Team.

STYLES OF TABLE TENNIS PLAY

I am very experienced with all styles of table tennis play having being personally successful playing as an attacker and then later adopting a ‘modern day’ defensive style.

TABLE TENNIS COACH FAQS

I’m a beginner, do I need to buy a bat before I come to you?

If you have a bat, bring it with you!

However, I have several that you can use if you haven’t.

I will also provide advice on what is the best bat to suit your experience/style of play should you later wish to buy one.

Do you have to be fit to play table tennis?

Table tennis is for everyone, I tailor my coaching to meet the needs of the individual… All ages, all levels of fitness and disabilities.

When do you provide coaching?

I am very flexible, call me and I will try to accommodate you.

I play in a lower division in the local league, can you make me a better player?

I will do my best! There are lots of things we could work on. Returning or doing spinny serves, how to kill the ball, backhand topspin’s etc.

I find it hard to play against ‘funny bats’ (long pimpled rubbers) can you Help?

I am a specialist in this style, having played with long pimpled rubber on one side of my bat for many years, I will improve your understanding and give you tried and tested methods to help you overcome them

After retiring and spending years working at a desk John’s passion for coaching table tennis has given me a new lease of life!
I may never be a champion or never win a match but I have started to get my health back after my one to one sessions with John.

I thought my grand kids were spending too long on their computer games so after some coaxing they ended up doing some 1 to 2 taster sessions with John.

Being short I never thought I would be able to play table tennis, but after a friend started some sessions with John I thought I would go along and see what was happening. After his coaching I now play with my friend on a regular basis at our local sports centre.
